Internet Workshop Understanding Mythology
Objectives: In Vacation Under the Volcano, Jack and Annie leaned about Roman life. Today, you will have the opportunity to use the internet to learn about an important aspect of Roman life, mythology. Use the sites provided to learn more about Roman myths but also myths from around the world. Use the sites to answer the questions below and if you have time create your own question and try to find the answer.
Pick one of the Roman Gods. Write down their name and information about this god.
Now, click on one of the links on the side of this page. Write down one new interesting fact you learned about Roman life (ex. Days of week, months, number system, solar system or board game)
Click on an area in the world on the map. Read a myth from that place and summarize the myth in the space below.
Next, using the same or different area. Click on the link for that area that says Pantheon (which means all the gods of a religion). Read about the gods and compare and contrast one god to the roman god you chose above in activity one. (Use a Venn diagram if you choose)
Evaluation Rubric
8 points- Completion of all questions; two points for each question.
2 points- Discussion; sharing at least one of your findings with the class.
